Institute of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry was established on the basis of Chemical-Engineering Department of the Arkhangelsk State Technical University. The Institute has huge scientific and educational potential owing to the actual scientific schools.
High level of teaching is provided by the qualified scientific and pedagogical staff. Among the faculty members there are 11 academicians of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Academy of Quality Problems, Engineering Academy and others.

Graduates of the Institute work at research, design and engineering organizations, centers, laboratories and certification groups, hospitals, educational institutions, public and private firms, in the system of internal affair bodies, arbitration and tax authorities, banks and other institutions and organizations.

Implementation of the Bologna Declaration at the Institute started in 2009 by the transition to the two-tiered system of education “Bachelor-Master”. In comparison with the curricula of specialists, bachelors` curricula have undergone significant changes; it allows to prepare graduates with the necessary skills to work in accordance with the training direction. We invite the best graduates of the Bachelor program to continue their education within the Master program straight after graduation or after gaining practical experience. The graduates of the Master program have the possibility to continue their research within postgraduate education or return to the production. Today the master's degree is an indispensable condition for career promotion.

The Institute actively develops academic mobility. Master's program “Engineering Protection of the Environment” was developed and implemented in cooperation with the University of Oulu. What’s more, the best students, speaking English or German, have the opportunity to pass training or internship at educational institutions, certification centers and firms in Germany (University of Applied Sciences in Emden), Sweden (Lulea University of Technology), Norway (university colleges in Narvik, Hedmark, University of Tromso), Finland (University of Oulu) and other countries.
